lament of a lady

We are afraid of even walking,
Because of the fear of stalking
We are groped in light and in the dark,
In public streets or in a public park.
Some develop an one sided love,
and if for their wish, we do not bow,
We are subject to rape or acid attack,
Or a murderous hit or a deadly whack.
For our cause, we have no defenders,
Most people seem to support the offenders;
We are blamed for no fault of ours,
justice denied, we are left to grieve for hours.
We are not just objects of lust,
We are also humans at our best;
With a soul, a brain and a heart,
and are in no way inferior but are smart.
We have emotions and feelings,
As in all day today human dealings,
The victims are stigmatised and blamed;
The culprits go scot free unashamed.
Day in and day out we are only advised,
The guilty are never punished nor chastised.
The offenders seem to have a birthright,
To molest and grope ladies day and night.
Being born as a female is a woeful accident;
But being born as a male is a happy incident.
Why the hell is this discrimination?
Is this the bane of our mighty nation?
Parents and society have a role to play,
By training the boys in the right way;
And not by criticising the girls who suffer.
Rather than being born a girl, death, I prefer.
