TWO TRUE FRIENDS

TWO TRUE FRIENDS.

The background of Mr Vethanayagam is poverty. But now he enjoyed keeping himself and his family comfortably by his effort. He neither forget the village or people he was born and raised in.
He never had anyone to call friends when he was in his home village. Nothing sticks with poverty. Friends joined during the period of success in life. The writers spoke as politicians exemplified him. He accepted everything with remorse.

As time went on they disbanded. First his loving wife. Then the children, relatives and friends. Now his companions were the flower plants and vegetable plants in his garden. It reminded him of his parents who loved him even in poverty. "Vetham" where are you, they will call him and made him to sit
together and enjoyed sharing whatever they cooked with him.

One day he saw an eggplant standing in his garden. The well-ripened plant now has only two pods. It was as if it reminded him of the two friends who were left with him. One's name is God. He was true to the word the immortal Tamil poet Valluvan wrote about true friends. The name of the other is Mind. He never left him either. If the two of them had left him alone, he wondered what his situation would be like now. He kneeled where he was standing and said 'Oh mother have mercy upon me". He touched the flower of the eggplant with his hand where he thought he saw the face of goddess Annai and held it on his eyes. Then he got up and went inside the house and laid down on the bed.

Annam, who came there with his lunch, called Sir as she stood outside. Heard no answer. She looked inside. She saw he was lying in bed. She went near and looked. There was a happy smile on his face. She wiped her eyes with her sari and then called the neighbor.
After saying what she saw Annam left. She had work to do. To give lunch to a few more houses.
